In celebration of White Cane Safety Day, students who are blind or visually impaired in Des Moines, Iowa, explored Blank Park Zoo using AI technology. A team from Yarmouk University, led by Asalah Al-Tamimi, clinched first place in the healthcare category at Ghazathon, a competition organized by Hussein Technical University (HTU) to address urgent challenges in Gaza. The team developed 'Awn,' an AI-powered healthcare platform designed to support Gaza’s collapsed healthcare system. Awn leverages AI for patient diagnostics, engages local volunteers for basic assessments, and connects patients with international doctors for advanced care.
